Quantum Global Solutions (QGS) and UAE based Hewitt Construction Consultancy recently partnered to deliver a 2-day Intensive Training Course on understanding claims under the FIDIC forms of contract to construction professionals in Qatar.

David Kelly, Executive Director at QGS, who co-presented the course said, “According to figures presented at the recent MEED Qatar Transportation Forum, the combined value of contracts awarded in GCC hit $170bn in 2014, with contracts awarded in the construction and transport sectors neck-and-neck. Meanwhile, the 2015 Mena Reinsurance Barometer by the Qatar Financial Centre also highlighted more than 1.4 trillion worth of projects are currently underway in the GCC region alone. Qatar is considered to be at the centre of the world’s construction activities with an estimated $44 billion in transport projects currently underway with another $35 billion due to be awarded over the next three years.”

Continuing Kelly noted, “These large-scale, unique projects pose multiple challenges to both clients and contractors.  Given QGS’s local knowledge of the market and our team’s hands-on experience of the multitude of problems that can be faced during construction QGS is uniquely placed to deliver an outstanding Claims Class with Hewitt Construction.  We were proud to find that so many cross-sector attendees joined our class including quantity surveyors, engineers, contract administrators, architects, planners and project managers.”

The event is Quantum’s fourth training course in partnership with Hewitt Construction Consultancy.  Further Claims Class training events will take place in 2016.
