The worldwide Dispute Resolution Board Foundation (DRBF) held a conference over the 25th and 26th of February in Livingstone, Zambia alongside the spectacular Victoria Falls. Quantum Global Solutions (QGS) were proud to be the principle sponsor. The conference drew an audience from the USA, Africa, Europe, the Middle and Far East including lawyers, architects, engineers, claims practitioners and representatives from the European Central Bank.

The lively discussions captured the latest knowledge sharing from current dispute boards and how these are successfully preventing multi-billion dollar projects from falling into dispute. QGS is now working with the DRBF offering diverse solutions on dispute prevention.

Among the presenters was Tom Kapapa, QGS Operations and Technical Director along with Steven Beaumont, QGS Executive Director who participated in the Dispute Board workshop. Reflecting after a long trip home, Beaumont noted “Tom and I found the diverse audience and disciplines highlighted the global extent and importance of Dispute Boards and the value they can add in helping projects to be completed without dispute or delay. We are thankful for the opportunity to take part and the feedback we received was extremely positive”.

Ann McGough, Executive Director of the DRBF speaking about Kapapa’s talk on Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) Contracts stated “Although Tom’s session fell at the very end of the day, I am pleased to share that delegates gave him the highest marks on the evaluation forms, and the session was one of the most popular overall. There was great appreciation from the participants on the topics covered during the conference, as well as the educational content of the workshops”.

The conference was set against the backdrop of the Livingstone Falls in Zambia and was complemented by the presence of zebras peacefully grazing and baboons swinging through the trees and trying to join us for breakfast.
