Every construction project is unique and has its own set of inherent problems and issues. Quantum Global Solutions (QGS) Directors, Andrew Woodward and Ian Maund recently highlighted some of the key topics affecting the construction industry at a workshop in Sharjah with senior management from their key client and partner, Metito Overseas Limited.
In his presentation, Andrew discussed, among other topics, issues surrounding the preparation of a claim – particularly time related claims, programme and EOT issues, disruption – what it is and the ‘Measured mile’, costs to be claimed and points to consider when writing a claim.
Following on, Ian discussed effective project management, shop drawings, coordination, design development, risk and data management, record keeping and notices and changes in work sequences. Both presentations were concluded with a robust question and answer session.
The presentation was also supported by David Moss, Partner and Head of Construction, Engineering and Projects at Eversheds, who regularly collaborate with QGS. David highlighted in his presentation, ‘Effective Contract Administration Claims Management and Win-Win Dispute Settlement – A Practical Approach’.
Speaking at the conclusion of the event, Woodward stated, “The GCC construction sector is continuing to experience rapid growth across all sectors of the industry and we are happy to participate in this collaborative workshop with Metito and Eversheds to discuss the impact of this rapid expansion. Today’s presentation has enabled QGS to share some of our experience and lessons learned across multiple sectors to help our key partner understand the difficulties that can be amplified during such periods of growth.’’
QGS is acknowledged as one of the leading management consultancies dedicated to serving the interests of the international construction and engineering industries. In addition to regular industry presentations QGS is also actively involved in the presentation of training courses and mentoring programmes.
