As part of Quantum’s RICS CPD Presentation Series Andrew Woodward recently made a presentation in Oman to Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) members on ‘’The Society of Construction Law (SCL) Delay and Disruption Protocol and its relevance in Oman.’’

In partnership with the RICS, during his presentation Andrew highlighted aspects of the SCL Delay and Disruption Protocol, Construction Project Management – FIDIC 99, Hurdles to Effective Construction Project Management, High Profile Project Overruns, the Purpose of the SCL Protocol, and Delay Analysis Methodologies.  His presentation also asked the audience questions such as Does Contractor Concurrent Delay Exist and Is the Protocol Relevant in the Gulf?

The presentation is part of a series of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) events arranged by the RICS held throughout the year to develop industry knowledge and raise awareness of RICS principles and protocols.

After the event Andrew noted “A recent report highlighted that despite low oil prices the Omani government’s focus on the development of transport infrastructure, energy, utilities facilities, and affordable housing the Omani construction industry will continue to expand in real terms over the next five years.  Following our earlier Dubai RICS presentation in April, we were delighted to be asked to present again to Oman based RICS members who will be challenged to meet the government’s future expansion policy.  We always feel the lively debate that follows our presentations are an integral element of the CPD experience and this evening we received a wide range of questions related to multiple aspects of the SCL protocol based on our audience’s experiences.’’
