Despite the current difficult economic times in Qatar and the many issues faced by small business owners, CSR is still an integral part of Quantum Global Solutions business philosophy, stated Peter Murphy, Quantum Global Solutions Managing Director at the 4th annual CSR Conference held in Doha under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Abdulla Bin Saoud Al Thani, Qatar Central Bank Governor.
Highlighting the ongoing partnership between Quantum and its primary CSR partner, Maktaba Children’s Library in a joint speech with Sarah Champa Al Dafa, Founder of Maktaba Children’s Library, Murphy and Al Dafa discussed the benefits of a long-term partnership that was based on the bringing together of like-minded individuals through corporate channels to support a local charity.
The discussion included Quantum and Maktaba’s creative approach of utilising employee volunteers along with bringing together third-parties suppliers who also help support Maktaba in small yet valuable ways. “At Quantum we don’t believe sponsorships or CSR support should be exclusive to one organisation, we believe in a collaborative approach, bringing everyone together with the right skills at the right time to produce great results. These projects instil a sense of pride in the work undertaken and everyone leaves happy. We encourage all of Qatar’s businesses to consider how they can implement a small, yet cost effective CSR programme into their business plans for 2017.’’
In line with the goals of the Qatar National Vision 2030 and as part of their commitment to the community, Quantum is proud supporters of non-profit organisations through their Q’munity Programme. Quantum’s Q’munity programme is based on a three-phase approach: hands-on volunteering such as the annual corporate ‘Donate a Day’ initiative, financial support and communications support.
In addition to taking part in the second session of the first day events as guest panel speakers, information on Quantum and Maktaba’s partnership has been published in the 2016 edition of the CSR White Book. Published annually the book highlights the importance of CSR, ethical business practices and innovative CSR programmes in Qatar.
