Amman, Jordan – 21 September 2018: Quantum Global Solutions, Regional Director MENA Region, Moneer Khalaf will join the panel of specialists at the upcoming ICC Beirut Conference on International Arbitration: Conducting International Arbitral Proceedings in the Arab Region. The conference will be held on the 21st of September in Beirut, Lebanon.

The conference was jointly organised by the ICC International Court of Arbitration and ICC Lebanon. During the conference, ICC representatives will share with participants the latest developments in national arbitration laws in an interactive session, together with an insightful presentation of the key case law decisions affecting the enforcement of international arbitral awards in the Arab region.

Moneer will take part in Session III starting at 2:30 pm – Understanding the role of an Expert in Arbitration: Arab Specificities? Tales from the Expert’s Perspective. The session will address the following topics with exclusive emphasis on the Arab region arbitrations:

  • Expert duties (professional conduct and ethics) and role (towards the parties, the counsel and the arbitrators) in resolving the dispute efficiently and effectively.
  • The expert: a team player?
  • Beyond the expertise in the subject matter and the demonstrated professionalism, an expert should be a team player. To what extent is the cooperation between multiple appointed experts required to help resolve the disputes in a tiely and cost effective manner?

Regional Director MENA, Moneer Khalaf is a highly experienced claims specialist with over 25 years of experience in the construction industry and a track record in project delivery in a variety of capacities, including a general contractor, project risk management and dispute resolution consultant. As a specialist consultant, he has advised owners, engineers, contractors and their counsel on construction risk avoidance and mitigation; specifically, best contracting practices, cost and schedule controls, delay and productivity analysis, assessment of design errors and omissions and general litigation support. Moneer has assessed claims, performed delay analyses, quantum assessments and forensic investigations. He has also participated in a number of settlement negotiations both as a principal and as an advisor over the course of his career.
