In line with the Qatar National Vision 2030 and in the run-up to the FIFA World Cup 2022, Qatar’s construction industry is experiencing a period of unprecedented growth and will continue to be one of the country’s leading employers over the coming years.  In order to share information on the different careers that exist within the construction sector for school leavers and university graduates, Ian Maund, Associate Director at Quantum Global Solutions (QGS) recently organised a presentation on careers in the construction industry and delivered the same to over 100 students in various year groups at the Doha College annual careers fair.  Specific presentations were prepared for each age group, and each was followed up with break out groups on the topics of ‘Engineering’, Design’ and ‘Management’. This approach allowed the presentation team to address the wide variety of interests, and accommodate a wider range of attendees than in previous years. Among the topics covered were the multiple professional career paths and opportunities available in the industry, entry requirements for various courses at UK universities, accreditation of courses in the UK by professional bodies and the importance of professional bodies such as the Chartered Institute of Building in the industry.

Pierre Sells, AECOM Commercial Manager and James Duffy, Senior Quality Manager at Obrascon Huearte Lain also made presentations to the students.
