Peter F. Murphy, Quantum Global Solutions (QGS) Associate Director and Rob Valenta, QGS Creative Director recently delivered a presentation on the Construction Claims industry to the American Chamber of Commerce in Qatar (AmCham).
The presentation included an overview of the main causes of construction difficulties, how difficulties can result in disputes, how companies can present a successful claim and the services QGS provide clients across the construction industry. QGS also showcased how their strategic use of unique and innovative 3D graphics and animations support formal claims documentation helping QGS provide visual clarity to complex construction issues.
Speaking following the presentation, Murphy noted that, “While multiple issues arise, two key reasons for disputes in Qatar’s construction sector, and across the region, is repeated changes in the original designs and delayed payment to contractors”. Further explaining the issues he said, “A delay in payment often leads to holding up a project for a long time, which ultimately upsets the project cost and schedule. Design changing is the prerogative of the client but the client must remember that the extra cost of ‘redesigning’ will trickle down to every aspect of the project, ranging from time to cost. QGS’s team of experienced professionals help clients and contractors to reach amicable resolutions to their individual problems without, where possible, resorting to formal dispute processes”
Valenta also stated that, “Even small changes to mega-projects create a serious impact to project cost and time schedules. By utilising the power of animation to graphically represent the problems experienced by clients and contractors QGS helps bring the issues into focus clearly and efficiently.”
