Quantum Global Solutions (QGS) recent took part in the Torneo de Futbol / Spanish Business Council (SBC) Football Tournament. Following QGS’s qualification the previous week, the QGS boys in black and gold arrived full of confidence for the SBC Finals on the 4th of December 2014. The QGS team quickly took charge of the quarter final encounter against OHL and were leading 2-0 at the half time break. A spirited comeback was briefly on the cards as a goal in the second period halved the QGS advantage. However, some tough defending, and a great goalkeeping display meant QGS were able to weather the storm.
At the business end of the tournament QGS faced an altogether tougher outfit in Schindler FC. After a slow start, the game sparked into life when two QGS defenders were left stunned by an Iniesta lookalike who darted past both and coolly slotted the ball into the net off the far post. QGS reverted to a more simplistic style of attacking in response to going behind. The long ball forward to the big man up front didn’t produce the desired effect though and QGS soon found themselves two behind. The half time whistle was welcomed by all in black and gold QGS team. A team talk that even Sir Alex Ferguson would have been proud was needed to fire up the beleaguered players.
It certainly worked, with the words still ringing in their ears, a goal was found early in the second half. The QGS team pushed for the equaliser. It was all one way traffic as shots rained down on the Schindler goalkeeper but QGS failed to find the net. As the final whistle approached QGS made one last tactical roll of the dice and the team moved out of defence and into attack.
The switch almost paid off as the goalkeeper could only parry a fierce shot allowing QGS to move in on goal for the follow up. But to the disbelief of all those all around, the ball sailed over the crossbar and with it the hopes of QGS qualifying for the final. Final score in a highly entertaining semi-final was 2-1.
QGS is acknowledged as one of the leading management consultancies dedicated to serving the interests of international construction and engineering organisations but certainly not superstar footballers. With its headquarters in Doha, Qatar the company actively supports community sponsorship initiatives as part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.
