Sean Vernon, Quantum Global Solutions Senior Contractual/Commercial Consultant, recently presented “A brief look at Expert Witnesses – What they are, what they do and how they do it’’ to the AACE® International (formerly the American Association of Cost Engineering) – Qatar Section.
The technical presentation, attended by over 60 construction industry professionals, discussed how construction disputes often move from being purely ‘site level’ matters into the arena of arbitration and/or litigation and the time when Expert Witnesses may be required.
‘’Presenting to Qatar’s AACEI members was a great experience,’’ said Sean following the presentation. ‘’The audience members manage the development of large-scale projects where a change of scope is almost inevitable due to the highly complex and individual nature of Qatar’s mega-projects. We hope that by sharing our experience in working with clients and contractors to resolve disputes and giving an insight into arbitration, litigation and the role of Expert Witnesses that the audience is now more aware of how a small matter can escalate and how to manage the situation if it does.’’
