Quantum employees ‘Donate a Day’ at Maktaba’s garden

Quantum employees ‘Donate a Day’ at Maktaba’s garden

For the second consecutive year Quantum employees and families held their annual ‘Donate a Day’ employee volunteer day at Maktaba Children’s Library. The children’s garden was developed last year by employees who removed the under used areas of grassed land behind the library building and transformed it into a garden with areas for vegetables, flowers, fruit trees, a sensory herb garden area and a range of floral window boxes. This year volunteer employees were split into groups and further developed the garden by adding a series of new bedding areas, trellis fencing for taller plants and the donation of more plants for the garden’s fruit tree and vegetable areas. Additional volunteers also painted walls and garden furniture for another year of outdoor use. A range of gardening related craft and seed planting activities were also carried out by younger members of the Quantum/Maktaba family. Over 80 Quantum employees and their families volunteered their time during the day. Speaking after cutting down a tree, Peter Murphy, Quantum’s Managing Director said, “Quantum is a family focused company and our annual Donate a Day event with Maktaba is a great opportunity for our company employees to give something back to the community. We work as a team, getting our hands dirty in the process and at the end we have achieved our goal to create a small garden oasis in the heart of Doha for the members of Maktaba’s children’s garden club. I’m proud to say that our ‘Donate a Day’ programme has to date encouraged over 200 work days to be donated by Quantum volunteers over the past year in the...

Quantum employees donate books to Maktaba Children’s Library

As part of Quantum Global Solutions long-term partnership with Maktaba Children’s Library the company recently handed over 60 children’s books to the library. “Following our Donate a Day initiative last year Quantum employees asked how they could continue to be part of the library’s development. Following discussions with Sarah she put together a wish list of books that had been requested by members of the library over the previous months. Our employees and their families then committed to bringing a book, or books, from the wish list back from their summer holidays to donate to the library. Books were also donated as part of the sponsorship of Jon Sanderson’s recent Ras Al Khaimah half marathon success where we donated a book for every mile Jon completed.
