Andrew Woodward, Regional Director Qatar and Technical Director at Quantum Global Solutions, will present the “The Detail in Disruption” to AACEI-Qatar members on the 21st of March from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at the Rotana City Centre Hotel. The presentation forms part of the 2018 Quantum industry lecture series established in 2014.
“The Qatar State Budget 2018 allocated nearly 46% of its total expenditure (QR 93 bn) for spending on major projects with new contracts worth QR 29 bn expected to be awarded in 2018. These mega-projects offer major opportunities for contractors, however risks are escalated during the project life-cycle of these multi-year projects” said Andrew Woodward. “Typically, construction claims focus on the issues of extensions to the time for completion and the accompanying recovery of prolongation or running costs, as these claims are relatively easy to make. However, contractors lose most of their money through the disruptive and inefficient use of their plant and equipment on site leading to an under-recovery against allowances contained within the contract rates. At Quantum we help our clients to mitigate these losses and welcome the opportunity to discuss these issues with AACEI members during our presentation.”
Andrew is a Chartered Civil Engineer, with more than 25 years’ experience delivering complex civil engineering and infrastructure projects working with major contractors to develop large-scale highway projects, motorway schemes, bridge reconstruction works, marine works and process engineering type works.
